links

Here's a list of a few of our favorite links, the music that moves us and the people who make us happy...

LIBERTY BOOT COMPANY
Colonel Tom is just tickled pink since he got himself a brand new pair of Liberty Boots. Owned & operated by Toronto's Tony Benattar (who also plays doghouse bass for the Cameron Family Singers and Rancho Misterio), these boots flatter jeans and Nudie suits alike!
FESTIVAL DISTRIBUTION
Festival Distribution takes care of our Canadian distribution needs. They get our records in stores from Victoria to St. John's, and all points in between. Check out their catalogue online, plenty of categories of music to peruse.
EXCLAIM!!!
Here's an article on the Backstabbers, as well as the Duhks and several other Canadian upstart acoustic acts. Exclaim is a cross-Canada monthly music magazine, with plenty of reviews, cool articles and tons o'indie info for the kids!
CBC RADIO
The Mother Corps, proud defender of all things Canadian. They give us our news, weather, music and left-wing sensiblity!
NOW MAGAZINE
Toronto's alternative weekly. Local news, reviews and sexiness. Country music-friendly too, eh!
Side Projects
TONY ALLEN & HIS GOOD RIGHT ARM
Tony just put out a new solo record called "Steam" and this is the band that performs most of the songs from the record. The band also features Kristine Schmitt and, yep, Sam Petite.
KRISTINE SCHMITT AND THE POWERS THAT BE
Kristine likes to keep herself busy, as her myspace site points out. When she's not performing with the Backstabbers or Tony's band she can be heard with her Powers That Be. Betcha fifty bucks you can guess who's playing bass in that band...
LICKIN' GOOD FRIED
Colonel Tom's new supersonic stringband with singer/mandolinist Alex Pangman, Andrew Collins (mandolin), John Showman (fiddle), Sam Petite bass, yep, that Sam Petite). Colonel is singing his own songs and playing guitar in this unit.
Who we're listening to...
THE CLOVERPOINT DRIFTERS
Victoria BC's Cloverpoint Drifters have just released their first CD of bluegrass songs. Get a load of that young buck singing & playing the mandolin with them, none other than Colonel Tom's little brother Daniel Harry Parker!
THE WEARY BOYS
Saw these fellows ply recently in Austin. Freaky, these guys must be from the same gene pool as the Backstabbers, except they plug in!
THE RIZDALES
Our honky tonkin' pals from London Ontario. these folks have a new record on teh way this summer. Check 'em out!
FOGGY HOGTOWN BOYS
Toronto bluegrass band and a great bunch of guys. When they step out of their touring van they hardly smell at all. Hardly.
